I Feel Cheated

Menhh, this thing is paining me.

So, before bed last night, I set my Saturday alarm for 5.30am. I had eaten a mountain (just exaggerating) of Pancakes. It was my first-time making Pancakes and it came out great; thanks to the many Youtube videos.

It’s like Youtube is now my next favourite after Google!

Back to what is paining me. Despite sleeping quite late, I found the courage to open my eyes. I got off the bed, said my prayers, got into my workout clothes, checked the weather forecast, adjusted my headphones, and line up of songs – perfect!

At 6:15am, I was ready to step out. I was feeling pumped. Plus, I had not jogged since Wednesday. No thanks to rain and our flooded roads.

I stepped out in the compound, listening to my jam, the breeze was cool; just the way I love it. But something felt wrong, ‘what was that splash?’

I looked up and around. Now I could see tiny spots on the ground.

Yeepa! It’s drizzling.

I thought, maybe it’s just doing ‘shakara’ – you know those types of rain that will just threaten. So, I kept walking and it felt like it heard my thoughts, that’s how it started increasing tempo.

I sighed and went back inside. I checked it again. Waited for a couple of minutes to see if it would just start raining. I took a shower cap, got out the second time.

This thing meant business. The cloud started looking greyish. I looked at my newly braided hair; I no fit. So, I went back inside and decided to get some more sleep instead.

Twenty minutes later, nothing happened. Now, it’s more than one hour. I could have gone and returned, you know.

I feel so cheated, chai!

  2. Lol. Do you ever feel like the rain itself feels cheated when you don't come out? I mean, the sun has had his fair share of your skin. Maybe the rain wants some too. What stopped us from playing in the rain? What stops you?

    1. Sounds very philosophical. LOL! I miss dancing and playing in the rain though.

For My G.Ma - Felicia

I never knew I would miss her this much. People never understood why I love Christmas. I didn’t quite get it too – apart   from the bursting joy of the birth of Christ, the melodious songs and beautiful decorations; there was more to the super hyper and lovey-dovey feeling I always have this season. So, I was scrolling through my phone gallery and saw the last photo I had with my G.Ma. Oh by the way, Christmas was her birth and death day. I’m writing this because of her. Just to share a bit of her awesomeness with you. That woman was a bad-ass! Reminiscing on my childhood memories with her, I realized she was the reason I love Christmas. I usually spent my Christmas and New-Year holidays with her as a child. She would take me to her church and ask the priest to allow me join other children in the Christmas carol rehearsals and performances. She would take me to the salon and have my hair done and accessorized. I hated making my hair, it was just too stressf...

Hello there!

Is it too late to say happy new year😥?! I mean, a quarter in the year 2021 is almost over, so I will let this mushy feeling slide, and let’s say I will pretend like I have been writing and written to you all these while.    Happy? Yes.    So, what have you been up to?  As for me, after the whole #EndSARS movement, I just literally had this block. In fact, I wrote a couple of things in my notebook but just couldn’t bring myself to sharing here.  I was beyond devastated, as many people – Nigerians were.    Anyways, before and since then, I was also doing a lot of thinking, studying, and preparing for a professional examination, which I wrote and passed in December, last year – yay!! Then, I have just been having ideas on a lot of things I would have loved to share with you but you know what they say about procrastination. Yea….got the best of this relationship!   I’m sorry.  Now, I hope to be more consistent – I know I have said that a mi...
