NEW YEAR, MOVING ON

Hi guys,

It’s only a few hours till the start of a new decade, new year and apparently new day!
So, let’s analyze a few personalities that may resonate and as well learn a thing or two before the ultimate count down and fireworks.

The ‘Over Thinker’
You have been thinking and auditing your life from January to December about things that never worked out. You think about the disappointments and the ‘what-ifs’. You worry yourself sick about the coming year, including things you have absolutely no control over and you’ve started panicking about what is yet to come. You write your ‘resolutions’ and all the many things you need to change, which include your ‘carry-overs’ from this year’s list of resolutions. Sometimes, you are excited about these things; most times your emotions are filled with fear and anxiety.

The ‘Planner & Strategist’
You are strategic. In fact, you have an inordinate attention to detail. Everything must be written and planned. Your life can not be an exemption to that rule. It’s a freaking new decade, we are entering and you are pumped for this new ride. You have crossed and ticked all your accomplishments this year. In fact, unlike many others, you have started writing your goals months before now. You don’t take these things lightly and you see no reason why some people don’t seem to take their lives seriously.

The ‘Striker’
You are such a people person and you take the matters of disloyalty to heart a lot. You are so emotional. You have found a unique way of linking people, especially those around you to your ultimate goal. It’s either they are with you or not. For those who hurt you, they have been cut off long before now but you have only chosen to make it official today. After all, this 2019 you see today, you shall see no more. So, gone they must with the wind of memories!

The ‘I worry about nothing’
You are neither excited nor sad. It doesn’t exactly bother you and to be honest, it seems rather obnoxious that some people assume you have no purpose because you have chosen deliberately not to be bothered. You wonder why people are so anxious about the next day?! It feels more like sleeping and waking and viola – it’s just another day, just like yesterday. Nothing is or should be special – should it?

The ‘Church Visitor’
Today is a very special one to you. Just like every other 31st in the previous years. This is when you set your alarms and nothing would stop you from ‘crossing over’. Not even your village people – whom you are usually afraid and aware of mostly today. You need to take the blessings for the New Year and run with it for another 365 days. Today, you will make up the extra number and increase in the church’s population.

So, did you find yourself in any of these persons?
The truth is you are either one or a mix of some of these types of people who are doing about the same things but in obvious different ways. One thing is common, they all want to MOVE ON.

To the over thinkers, how about you stopped worrying about everything and waiting desperately for the next big thing to happen?
To the strategist and planner, how about you plan yet are flexible in your approach to life. Somethings will come and some may not. But you will remain thankful and happy.
You, emotional bundle – how about you toughen up a little and be intentional about your circle, if this makes you happy. But enough, already of the every year striking and cutting off. How about you decide to be more mindful and self-aware. You can only give people the power to hurt you. Look beyond the hurts and move on quietly and forgive too – you are not perfect either!

To the free spirit who hides behind ‘worrying about nothing’. We love how you take life one day at a time. Sometimes though, it’s hard to tell if you really know what you are doing. Learning a thing or two from the planner isn’t a bad idea. Intentional living is such a vibe and you’ll love it.
To the church visitor, see, your ‘village people’ are probably also busy trying to ‘cross over’ too. Bottom line is, ‘to thine own self be true.’

Finally, this is to say ‘thank you’ for reading, sharing and dropping words of encouragements on every post this year. Your comments and kind words are the reason; I never gave up on writing and sharing a bit of myself with you.
I love you all and wish you a prosperous 2020!

Love & Light

For My G.Ma - Felicia

I never knew I would miss her this much. People never understood why I love Christmas. I didn’t quite get it too – apart   from the bursting joy of the birth of Christ, the melodious songs and beautiful decorations; there was more to the super hyper and lovey-dovey feeling I always have this season. So, I was scrolling through my phone gallery and saw the last photo I had with my G.Ma. Oh by the way, Christmas was her birth and death day. I’m writing this because of her. Just to share a bit of her awesomeness with you. That woman was a bad-ass! Reminiscing on my childhood memories with her, I realized she was the reason I love Christmas. I usually spent my Christmas and New-Year holidays with her as a child. She would take me to her church and ask the priest to allow me join other children in the Christmas carol rehearsals and performances. She would take me to the salon and have my hair done and accessorized. I hated making my hair, it was just too stressf...

Hello there!

Is it too late to say happy new year😥?! I mean, a quarter in the year 2021 is almost over, so I will let this mushy feeling slide, and let’s say I will pretend like I have been writing and written to you all these while.    Happy? Yes.    So, what have you been up to?  As for me, after the whole #EndSARS movement, I just literally had this block. In fact, I wrote a couple of things in my notebook but just couldn’t bring myself to sharing here.  I was beyond devastated, as many people – Nigerians were.    Anyways, before and since then, I was also doing a lot of thinking, studying, and preparing for a professional examination, which I wrote and passed in December, last year – yay!! Then, I have just been having ideas on a lot of things I would have loved to share with you but you know what they say about procrastination. Yea….got the best of this relationship!   I’m sorry.  Now, I hope to be more consistent – I know I have said that a mi...
