Hey
guys,
Thank
God it’s Friday!
This
hilarious piece (if you find it so) is a result of my exact thoughts as I rode
on the bike to work and of course, a reflection of my love for food –
sometimes, street food. As I
concluded, one thing came to mind; though I tried to push it away as I read
through the finished article, but it came back strongly.
So,
I guess, it might be for someone – perhaps you. The words were simply, EMBRACE
THE MOMENT, BE PRESENT. Let me add this, be intentional about living in Lagos.
Yeah…for the sake of your mental health.
Finally, this is just for you
to chill, laugh and relax your face small. LOL!
Enjoy.
LAGOS AND FOOD
It
is almost impossible to mind your business in peace, especially on an okada in
this city called Lagos.
‘Kilode?’
a Yoruba phrase that means, ‘what is it?’ So, I was on the bike this morning,
enjoying the cool breeze as we rode past the cars in traffic, trying to navigate
the Ikoyi link bridge toll gate, then this aroma of boiled yam and fried eggs
filled the air at some spot, as I lost count of the numerous food houses on
that street, then almost immediately, I could perceive some stir fried noodles,
this one got me hungry and smiling as I inhaled the freshness of the green
pepper and ginger that was predominant.
Then
suddenly, the wind once again came with a mixed smell that contain exhausts
fume and fried puff - puff.
Chai!
I immediately remembered and missed the popular ‘Ojuelegba’ puff-puff spot, the
one very close to the bus park and operated by two young men, which opens for business
from 5.30am for early risers.
Honks
from all corners with the slight bump as we swerved from a pot-hole, jolted me
back to reality – my reality.
“Damn,
it’s drizzling, God please let me get to the office before this rain pours” I
prayed silently, forgetting all about the food and my initial attempt to catch
where the puff -puff aroma was coming from and now concentrating hard on how
thankful I would be if my prayers got answered.
I
know your next question. LOL!
It was a happy ending – I
promise.
By the way, I do need a car.
Love
and Light,
TA
Lol...
