Hey
guys,
So,
on one of those days I had my morning walks, whilst praying and also in my thoughts,
right in front of me was a lady in a yellow t-shirt. I didn’t see her face but was
entirely caught up by the inscription behind the shirt.
It
had the words – ‘Share the Light…’ It was an advert for some concert or
something like that. But hey, those words hit the right cords in my heart and
as soon as I got back home, I scribbled these words as it flowed through my
heart.
I
hope these words reach you, just as intended.
Enjoy!

The
gifts and all that you have aren’t meant for just you to keep. Now, this sounds
as direct as it possibly can be. Yet, a lot of us have struggled with actually
understanding the depth of those words. Perhaps we choose to limit the term
‘gifts’ to just spiritual things or talents.
Even
as, we are not that far from the truth; these gifts go beyond that. It is the
gift of smile, laughter, love, compassion, joy, peace. It is the gift of
forgiveness, reconsideration, support, timeliness, health, friendship, loyalty.
It
is the gift of leadership, followership, vision, care, hope, prayer, diligence,
hard work, excellence, commitment.
These
gifts are in those kind words; the compliments; the acknowledgement of hard
work or a job well done. They are in those things as little as trashing the
waste in a bin, truly and genuinely asking those words ‘how are you?’ and
sometimes pausing to read between the lines of the regular response ‘Fine’.
It
is in being thoughtful and kind and saying ‘hello’ to your neighbours – even
though this is becoming rare and our society is fast filling up with ‘surrogate
beings’ (a robotic representation of people; coined from the Bruce Willis movie
– Surrogates). It is in helping that
woman with a lot of baggage and a child strapped to her back, who is trying to
get to the bus stop, just a tiny few miles from where you both are. It is in being less suspicious about every and
any act of kindness, even while trying to be careful.
All
these gifts make us unique and different from every other thing God
created. It makes us HUMAN.
I
acknowledge that I don’t do most of these things very often. I acknowledge that
I don’t share enough of my contagious and beautiful smile – that might just
brighten up someone’s day.
Today,
I will look within and be intentional about sharing my gifts with others because; I know that, in sharing these gifts, I am
also spreading the light, even for myself. I will discover more of me and most
definitely receive some love and light too.
Love
& Light,
TA
Insightful & captivating piece. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for reading Sundayman🙂
DeleteReally good piece👍. The difficulty in being sane, trusting someone's genuine help is rare these days cos of many circumstances. We would all get there eventually.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for reading Isaiah 🙂 - true but we all have to learn to be intentional and surely we'll get there.
