Bring It On!

I finally got on the bus after a long queue at the bus-stop for about an hour or more.
I placed my extra luggage on the floor between my legs as I grabbed the standing handle quickly before the bus took off.
We were still pretty far away from my destination when the P-square featuring Dave Scot song 'Bring it on' showed on the screen - I love that song!

Like a planned coincidence, somewhere outside the bus in the middle of the road was a young boy who was about crossing to the other side.
The traffic was gradually building up along Mile 12 and the BRT  bus I  boarded wasn't exempted this time, from the bumper to bumper movement.
I read the inscription on the the boy's  black T-shirt . It had "Bring it on!" then I turned quickly to the screen which had the same thing!

I smiled at the beautiful coincidence that reminded of when I was much younger and my mom had just bought me a foot wear that had the image of the soon to become popular cartoon (then) 'Lion King'. I unwrapped the gift and placed it down for fitting when the screen brightened up and read 'The Lion King'. I jumped up excitedly and wore the shoe all day even to bed! It felt like I had produced the movie and I kept telling people the story...how I had brought my shoe out of the box and the screen played the same cartoon image I had on my shoe.

It felt like magic!

Life can be tough and rough yet, full of pleasant surprises. Sometimes, these surprises come in a very passive and subtle way that we often don't connect to them because we allow ourselves get carried away by the wind of troubles and hustles.
Many times, all we need do is look past the distractions and noise and connect to what seem foolish and abstract.
From the gentle blow of the wind, to the sway of the trees; the chirp or tweet or singing of the birds; the bark of the dog; the crow of the rooster; the gobble of the turkey; the cluck or cockadoodledoo of the chickens...

It's the beginning of a new month - What do you see? Brokenness?  Emptiness? Discouragement? What do you feel? Bitter? Anger? Depression? Betrayal? Pain?

Or would you rather see a sunshine on a stormy day?
My declaration is that,
I choose Joy over sorrow, Laughter over tears and Opportunities over regrets!
Bring it on...Never give up and make each day count!
Happy new month beautiful people!

For My G.Ma - Felicia

I never knew I would miss her this much. People never understood why I love Christmas. I didn’t quite get it too – apart   from the bursting joy of the birth of Christ, the melodious songs and beautiful decorations; there was more to the super hyper and lovey-dovey feeling I always have this season. So, I was scrolling through my phone gallery and saw the last photo I had with my G.Ma. Oh by the way, Christmas was her birth and death day. I’m writing this because of her. Just to share a bit of her awesomeness with you. That woman was a bad-ass! Reminiscing on my childhood memories with her, I realized she was the reason I love Christmas. I usually spent my Christmas and New-Year holidays with her as a child. She would take me to her church and ask the priest to allow me join other children in the Christmas carol rehearsals and performances. She would take me to the salon and have my hair done and accessorized. I hated making my hair, it was just too stressf...

Hello there!

Is it too late to say happy new year😥?! I mean, a quarter in the year 2021 is almost over, so I will let this mushy feeling slide, and let’s say I will pretend like I have been writing and written to you all these while.    Happy? Yes.    So, what have you been up to?  As for me, after the whole #EndSARS movement, I just literally had this block. In fact, I wrote a couple of things in my notebook but just couldn’t bring myself to sharing here.  I was beyond devastated, as many people – Nigerians were.    Anyways, before and since then, I was also doing a lot of thinking, studying, and preparing for a professional examination, which I wrote and passed in December, last year – yay!! Then, I have just been having ideas on a lot of things I would have loved to share with you but you know what they say about procrastination. Yea….got the best of this relationship!   I’m sorry.  Now, I hope to be more consistent – I know I have said that a mi...
