MISTAKEN IDENTITY???

Its usually amazing how people whom we probably knew way back in High School or College change drastically when we later meet with them and we wonder if they were the ones we actually knew or not. Some exhibit some behavioral changes and others physical changes - Some change from being thin to plump or fat; nerdy look to a very cool one and black to white!

You see...

I was surfing the net some days ago and a particular picture caught my attention. Now, its not like I haven’t seen similar pictures recently or that this particular one was any different; but trust me its sure attention trapping and jaw dropping that it got me stare for close to 5mins because this particular "fashion"as we call it  today is fast trending and seem "trendy" to some group of people.

I am sure you are not new to this seemingly trendy new found love among young and beautiful ladies today. But the increase and craze for this transformation got me a little concerned and I decided to check out the difference between what these people call skin toning and what I think is actually skin bleaching with pictures of course to drive home the glaring difference.

In Layman’s term, “Toning” ideally means using products to “even” one’s complexion, while bleaching means to “change” one’s natural birth color.

An Even toned skin

Bleaching: This is an art whereby you take away the first epidermis of the outer layer of the skin and second and third epidermis of the skin which is the finest skin, then one looks entirely white just like an European because you have bleached to the finest layer of the skin which is very risky.

Toning: Toning in beauty means different things. It could either mean to make the body firmer with exercise or it could be means of tightening the pores to minimize acne breakout, reduce oil and balance the skin or it is way of repairing damaged skin caused by the sun or discoloration of the skin due to carelessness. It does not have any side effects it rather restore the dullness of the skin and makes it look attractive.

Now lets check out images of beauty blacks turn white!

Even the guys are not left out...sigh

I am sure you are thinking exactly what i am thinking. Well Kudos to the bleachers and I hope they get the difference and call a spade a spade!

For My G.Ma - Felicia

I never knew I would miss her this much. People never understood why I love Christmas. I didn’t quite get it too – apart   from the bursting joy of the birth of Christ, the melodious songs and beautiful decorations; there was more to the super hyper and lovey-dovey feeling I always have this season. So, I was scrolling through my phone gallery and saw the last photo I had with my G.Ma. Oh by the way, Christmas was her birth and death day. I’m writing this because of her. Just to share a bit of her awesomeness with you. That woman was a bad-ass! Reminiscing on my childhood memories with her, I realized she was the reason I love Christmas. I usually spent my Christmas and New-Year holidays with her as a child. She would take me to her church and ask the priest to allow me join other children in the Christmas carol rehearsals and performances. She would take me to the salon and have my hair done and accessorized. I hated making my hair, it was just too stressf...

Killings in South Africa

I read and saw pathetic images of the killings of black foreigners by South Africans who are claiming or angry that these foreigners are taking up all available jobs and congesting available facilities and they also claim they are illegal immigrants. Read up the story captured by Al Jazeera below: 'Thousands of people have attended a march in South Africa's coastal city of Durban in solidarity with the country's foreign nationals.

Hello there!

Is it too late to say happy new year😥?! I mean, a quarter in the year 2021 is almost over, so I will let this mushy feeling slide, and let’s say I will pretend like I have been writing and written to you all these while.    Happy? Yes.    So, what have you been up to?  As for me, after the whole #EndSARS movement, I just literally had this block. In fact, I wrote a couple of things in my notebook but just couldn’t bring myself to sharing here.  I was beyond devastated, as many people – Nigerians were.    Anyways, before and since then, I was also doing a lot of thinking, studying, and preparing for a professional examination, which I wrote and passed in December, last year – yay!! Then, I have just been having ideas on a lot of things I would have loved to share with you but you know what they say about procrastination. Yea….got the best of this relationship!   I’m sorry.  Now, I hope to be more consistent – I know I have said that a mi...
